Again, MX to the rescue.

In BIOS, turn off "Secure Boot" and enable USB boot and
move it to the top of the order.

Use an MX-Live installer USB drive.

Early in the setup you see where it wants to put
GRUB. The "ECP" setting is what you want.

LET it use the whole disk for the install. This
will totally zap Winders and create its own
UEFI partition and main system partition (and
a Swap, which you COULD remove later after a
'swapoff').

Now just running MX (or anything) Live, even
gparted will not see the built-in SSD. However
the MX (maybe others) installer will.

Re-examining the BIOS after install, the
uefi os starter entry no longer says "winders"
and instead says "MX ...".

So, now have MX-21 (extended driver edition)
running. It all works. Touchpad is STILL a bit
too sensitive, but bearable.

Came with 128gb M2 SSD ... but I have a 500gb
Samsung Pro 980 on order and I even found a
ten-second video on how to get the case apart.
A USB-2-M2 adapter will facilitate migration.
Probably just 'dd' it.

The Gen-11 i3 is several times snappier than
my old N-something based subnotebook yet still
uses less power than the i5 option. Excellent
for Linux.
