I just did a search on for "Linux News" with an eye towards finding stuff on
WINE and ran across something called "Bottles".

Anyone have any opinion on it?

My need is that I need a Windows environment of some sort to run a program
called "Remote Hams", which lets you take control of Ham radios (with the
owner's consent, of course) and use the radio as if you were there.

I don't have any Windoze machines in the house and don't know enough about
virtual machines, et. al. to tackle it that way.

It's not a big priority, about a 9 on a scale of 1-10 where ten is least
important, just curious.

Hmm, the creators of Remote Hams said that there wasn't one....
I'll give this a look. Thank-you!
