Well... I don't know that the 'whole thing' is 'worthless' (to me).

That is, even tho' I wouldn't be interested in some kind of
extralong-term support, I don't know what its value might be in the
'short run'.

I don't quite understand how the Pro biz falls into the category of an
'update' on your system. It seems like in order to warrant an 'update'
something would have to already exist in your system that needs to be
updated. Ya' know whatta' mean, Gene?

What happens if you use your terminal for:

$ pro status

or

pro security-status

LM has an 'update manager' and a 'software manager' but not a 'software
updater' per se. I don't see a ubuntu pro (or ub-pro) in my synaptic,
but if I use a LM 21.2, in software manager I see a
'ubuntu-advantage-pro' - add'l service for Ub Pro images.

I don't know much about all this.

For a list of all Ubuntu Pro services, run 'pro status --all'

This machine is not attached to an Ubuntu Pro subscription.

How do you normally configure and use your update manager?

Mine is config/d to only show notifications for security and kernel
updates in Preferences/ Options.

Ubuntu-advantage-tools is installed here, but I don't remember having
installed it.
I can't uninstall it as other packages will be removed with it:
ubuntu-minimal, update-manager-core, update-notifier-common,
ttf-mscorefonts-installer. Why?, I wonder.

Updating ubuntu-advantage-tools requires installing
ubuntu-pro-client-l10n ("delivers translations of Ubuntu Pro Client
for various languages").

I think that is one of those 'stupid' conditions. The package itself is
rather insignificant, as it is just a 223 kB text file, so there would
be no need to remove it, especially since doing so would want to cause
unnecessary damage.

The 'associated' files are a whole bunch of .py scripts in the
'installed files', but those installed are not what you mention above
but .py scripts in a uaclient dir.
