I have a Brother DCP-L3510CDW.
It told me that I was out of toner but not which colour.
I found a cheap compatible "TonerPartner" and ordered a set of four.
I opened the Cyan one this morning. It wouldn't fit the carrier.
I photographed it adjacent to the original and called them.
Their customer support was courteous and instantly sent me a questionnaire which I completed quickly. (I have learned to take pictures of serial and model numbers of just about everything). But at the moment I couldn't print.

In the meantime what should I do?

I searched for sites /youtube videos that explained how to reset the internal counter on each cartridge. Most left me in some doubt as to exactly which buttons to press but eventually I cracked it.

If you've got a Brother, these steps might come in useful:

1) With printer still ON,
2) Open the top section (that reveals the cartridges).
3) Press both the reverse button (the lower one to the right of the screen) AND the Exit button (the top right hand button).
4) Then press the reverse button quickly afterwards. You may have trouble at first but it gets easier.
5) Using the + and - buttons scroll up / down until you identify which cartridge is to be reset.
6) Press the OK button
7) Press the + button to accept.
You need to do this for each colour.

It took a while but I am back in 'er business.

Regards, Alan
