Manifests as future browser issues then.

That's not the worst part.

The worst part is that it says "will stop running".
Instead of "will stop being supported".

IOTW, deceptive.

If earlier versions are anything to go by, it will actually stop
running at some point.

Valve dropped support for XP many years ago. When you attempt to run
Steam on XP, it will first insist on connecting to the mothership,
then attempt to download the latest version, moan about how the latest
version won't run on XP, and then self-terminate.

Possibly, if you keep the software in 'offline' mode it may still
work, although I suspect that there is a timer that will force you to
go online before it will run.

TL;DR: even if Steam still runs on Win7 today, I wouldn't expect that
to last very much longer.

Since the countdown is already zero days ago, the current client version
will still run unless it's updated with a newer version. But Steam's
announcement states that it won't get any update anymore for Windows 7.

If the current client version already have an time expiry and OS version
rejection kill switches, it can be cracked.

Yeah, I feel for it and larded up my W7 desktop with all of my Steam
games I care about (a lot) in the off chance that I could still play
them disconnected from the net. Of course Steam still works; thus far;
however, I've add a couple more hours to my cloning backups.

le sigh

As I mentioned above, I have all of my desired games downloaded for use
in offline mode. I'd be upset if Steam timebombed installed games and,
while IANAL, doing so might even set them up for a class action suit.

Just a quick follow-up fyi. Steam just released a few free new expansion
packs for Fallout 4 and they downloaded, installed and run fine on my
Win7 rig.

Cheers
