I used Flightgear some time (few years) ago. It seemed to me to have
very decent flight characteristics and support for instrument flight. (I
flew myself about 20 years ago, PPL and shortly before CPL and
instrument exam before having to stop due to a severe health problem).

Having got a new computer working (still bits to be added), I thought
the time had come to give something cpu intensive a bit of sa run,
particularly as I have a son-in-law who owns his own aircraft.

I have installed flightgear but have yet to try it.
