Is the trustworthiness confirmation of the nvidia drivers repo (or any
repo) really a necessary inclusion in the boot setup process? It just
adds considerable delay.

I have no idea but I don't see what repos or certificates have to do
with setting up grub so I'm also at a loss to explain why all that time
is being wasted.
