This is a follow up to a thread in the forum ,it wont let me create an
account it says my only email address is taken.

start the from SeaMonkey opensuse 15.4/tumbleweed and try to open a
video ,it crashes every time.

Download SeaMonkey from their website extract it and run it manually it
works every time loads the video. I have not compiled it from source

Just to be sure it was not the video that was the issue I used the same
website video each time

So the following tests one after the other

Seamonkey from opensuse video crashes

Seamonkey from their website video works

Seamonkey from opensuse video crashes

All on the same lan internet connection

The above happens on my Leap 15.4.desktop and my tumbleweed laptop

The revision numbers are the same Ive checked.

I fully patched 15.4 and tumbleweed today (27/3/23) before starting
testing and it still happens on both

I posted something similar to this on the Seamonkey Newsgroup and the
reply was that the wrong version of Rust had been used to compile the
program.
rust 1.67.1 was used instead of rust 1.66.1.

There is a workaround in Seamonkey 2.53.16b1
The fix is in Seamonkey 2.53.17b1pre ("later cubeb libs")

Since I get my Seamonkey from the openSUSE repos I then asked when
2.53.16 was likely to be released. The reply there (on 16 March) went
into some macOS issue and then "Probably in the next 1-2 weeks otherwise".

The thread entitled "Seamonkey 2.53.15 crash on Youtube".

Found SeaMonkey 2.53.16 from the OpenSUSE website downloads that works
fine on tumbleweed but not Leap 15.4.

If it worked I would. I emailed the admin yesterday and am awaiting

Writing to the admin opens a ticket automatically. You should have
gotten an automated reply with the link.

The volunteer team handling them is small and overworked, so be patient.
I can see it.

Oh, I don't have the knowledge nor the access to do anything, sorry. I
know that it is a common occurrence, and "low priority". Meaning, if
something breaks and affects a thousand users, that's urgent. If only
one, then it is not urgent.

As they say, "we are hiring". Volunteers, zero pay :-p

Seamonkey 2.53.16 was released today. The maintainer is going to
expedite pushing it out to the main Leap repository (not sure how long
that takes) and I'd expect Tumbleweed to be even faster.
If you use the Mozilla-test repository for Leap, that should be carrying
it in a few hours.

It has been on Mozilla-Test for around 30 minutes now.

I'm the packager. I can't really "expedite" pushing it to Leap; all I
can do is issue a service request for the Leap folks to process.
Sometimes they end up taking several weeks to act on it and I end up
having to poke them. If you don't see it in the Leap repositories by
mid-April, then try pinging
<https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1209994>.

Regards,
Tristan

SeaMonkey 2.53.16 is in both the TW and Leap Mozilla repo and it has
fixed the crashing problem I was experiencing ,cheers for that.
