Seem to have got an answer to my own question. After working OK for a
couple of days with both email suppliers, get an error from Messenger
saying this version doesn't support multiple clients. ;-)

It supports multiple clients but NOT multiple SMTP servers so sending
emails via a different SMTP server is not supported but you can send via
one SMTP server if your ISP allows that and which was communicated here
many weeks ago.

Whereabouts is this Tips sheet? It sounds useful, but I'm looking in the
Zips for M-Pro 8.0x and can't see it anywhere.

Hermes supports multiple outpgoing SMTP servers, doesn't it?

Yes, it does but only if you tell it a unique string of
characters from the Addresses part of the Edit SMTP account
window.

For over a year now I've wondered why I couldn't get Hermes
to send to the native SMTP server for two of my additional
addresses. It was only when setting up a Gmail address that
I found this wrinkle.

Yes in the full version, but Dave Plowman, has the cut-down version as
supplied with his version of Messenger Pro, which seems to be a fairly old
version.

Tips Folder not sheet. There are 8 different tips files for things like
Gmail, Hotmail, Marcel, Pluto, Saving, etc. They are all plain text files.

Having just bought the full version of Messenger Pro, it doesn't include
Hermes in the package. Although it did come with the first Netfetch
package I bought a few weeks ago.

So I'm confused. Is it needed with Messenger Pro?

Both my email addresses (BT and 123-reg) are now set up using imap, and
working. Obviously be best if each used their own SMTP server.

I think this is possible.
I have just managed to set up POP gMail to do that.
Set up is a bit quirky!
Restart your machine. Load messenger>choices>site details>Hermes for
mail>Setup. You now see Hermes accounts >Outgoing servers. Double click on
your account. You can now set up a new outgoing SMPT account. Remember to
go to addresses. Add something out of your email address ie "btinternet".
Click "change". Close & remember to "Set" site settings.
You need to start with a re-set or you cannot see the "outgoing servers".
and for some reason the addressees you enter may not be remembered.
Well it's working here for now

PS For gmail you need to go to your account on a PC.
Select less secure connection. Set on 2factor authentication and obtain an
16 digit app password to use in your log in.

Think it may be different with Pro and imap. You use two user names (or
more) one for each account. And set the incoming and outgoing for each of
those accounts.
