I've considered that, but:
1) not everyone here is on the Steam group,
2) I want to encourage people to use Usenet, and if they know there's
a chance for free games here, they're more likely to hang around (and
maybe even post), and
3) it doesn't really solve the problem of people silently claiming a
game, it just limits /who/ gets the keys.

So - at least as far as I am concerned - the risk of bots snagging a
few keys is outweighed by the chance to promote Usenet's utility.
Others may have different opinions, and that's cool, but that's why I
do it the way I do.

Plus, I love how active this newsgroup becomes in December ;-)

Of those not taken (well I didn't check if it was) X-Com pack is tempting,
but I already own two of the 5 and not sure what happens if I take it,
so leaving that for someone that wants the lot.

Endless Space 2 and A Plague Tale: Innocence are both tempting (I have
Vermintide.) Realistically I'll never play them, so I'll leave them for someone
who will.
