Reasonable, it is EoL and applications based on it MUST be changed to

Well the 3D printing slicer that I use (Skeinforge - lots of code)
certainly won't be, but I'll keep running that on an EOL version of
Linux anyway. Eventually I might take on the task of writing a
driver for one of the maintained slicers. But definately not one
written in Python.

Thankfully I've had more success in avoiding Python entirely for
most other tasks.

Yea, but there's a LOT of very useful software still
in P2.

Oh, and P3 is already at a high version number ... is P4,
with other issues, just around the corner ?

Anyway, nothing prevents you from manually installing P2.

Yes, language families evolve - sometimes with certain
incompatibilities. The designers are SURE they'v got
THE Perfect Paradigm THIS time .......

Oh well, there's always K&R 'C' ..... that always
seems to work :-)

They should. python 2 does not have a place on modern systems, and
people who really need legacy software are free to use legacy OSses.
There are legacy OSses that even come with support.
