If you think that the Republican Party ever was remotely interested in
David Brooks, your attachment to the NYT has made you unaware of current
or past events of all sorts.

Trump was not elected the first time by hard right Republicans, he was
elected by people in the middle who could not vote for Hillary. If
Trump wins again, it will be because of the middle that cannot tolerate
another Biden administration ... whoever that is that is running things.

I personally do not like Trump at all ... I am a middle right leaning
sort of person that just likes states rights and no one being in charge
that is in total control. This country started as a group of
independent states with little federal control. It was necessary for a
lot of reasons to veer toward more federal control but the idea that
everyone needs to be in perfect agreement on every single thing is
foreign to our country.

Everyone should have almost no federal "official" telling them what to
do in their own home with their own family ... and as little state or
county or city or local folks as possible being involved.

If you do not like your neighborhood association, move to another
neighborhood. If you do not like your town or city laws and people,
move to another town or to the "county" ... if you do not like your
county, go to another county ... don't like your state, another state
might be for you. If you cannot find a state you like, maybe you do not
like your "country" ... if your "country" is in charge of EVERYTHING ...
you do not have any "choice" left other than obedience or revolution or
departure. Compromise is hard when EVERYTHING is on the table.

We need to get the federal government out of trying to be Big Brother.

I hope and pray that it is possible to do it.

Republicans are not anti-immigration.
They are pro LEGAL immigration with proper application, vetting and so forth. Just like their
ancestors have done.
There will always be an ultra right wing contingent who hate immigration because they hate people
who are different than they are and this hate has little to do with the current immigration
crisis because these hateful people have been around for ages.
The immigration crisis is just another vehicle for them to latch onto to try and support their
cause.
And the left does it as well. In fact Al Sharpton is a master at it.

That reader just described the Biden administration to a t.
It's the latest left wing tactic to blame Trump for the border crisis and chaos but it's laughable
to believe that this rhetoric is going to fool anyone as they can see the difference in the country
when Trump was POTUS compared to Biden as POTUS.

The numbers, the fact that even blue cities are now complaining about the border and so forth are
proof positive as to who and what party is the cause of this mess.

None of this happened under Trump.
And love him or hate him, the people are realizing this.
It's why a cornerstone of the democrat party, blacks and Hispanics, are moving towards Trump in

When you cut all the meat from a post and then draw "conclusions" that
were discussed in the meat that you cut from the post ... you make
yourself look really biased and unreasonable ... but apparently everyone
already knows that.

It is not hyperbole at all to say that we face the possibility of
falling into fascism or communism if the extremes of our system gain
complete control of everything in our country. I discussed that in the
meat you cut.

I will say it again ... our country tried something new ... divide the
country into strong independent states ... do not let the federal
government gain control over EVERYTHING or will likely wind up with
dictatorship ... one world government is the last thing we need in the
"world".

The middle in the USA today must choose between two losers ... Biden is
not in control at all ... there is no compromise available to whoever
(whatever) is actually controlling out country. We approach catastrophe
and Trump will not save us ... but maybe we can let the States get more
control over their own areas and we will have choices again. Let
California be as "controlled" as it wants and Texas can be more
"uncontrolled" as it wants.

If you do not like your neighbors ... move. If you like your
neighborhood association, stay ... if not but you like controlled
neighborhoods, find one that satisfies most of your likes. If you like
your town/city ... stay ... if you like your county ... stay ... if you
like your state ... stay ... if you don't like ... try to get your
neighbors to do what you want or find another home.

If you want your state to be different in some specific way and there is
no other state that is that way ... try to change your state but do not
change all the other states to make it the way you want in your state
.... if you cannot ... find another country.

Compromise is better than killing those that disagree with you.

Where do you live, Swill? Are you happy? Do you really think our
federal government should be in charge of everything?

Maybe it is time for a Reagan to return. Trump is not an answer ... but

This 'contingent' has taken over the party completely. The GOP is no longer conservative.

The Republican Party is to blame for it. GOP moderates proposed legislation to deal with
it and Trump told the radicals to reject it because he wants it as an issue to run on.

They won't answer that question but I can. Republicans don't want the border issue *or*
illegal immigration resolved. They need it to drive their voters to the polls. They
can't win on policy so they have to go after emotional issues.
They can't use same sex marriage anymore because that's the law of the land.
They can't use abortion anymore because they finally got Roe overturned. They've been
losing elections ever since which just proves they can only on a 'gut' issues. That's
why they're after trannies and illegal migrants - they got nothing else.
