Unless the killer was a descendant of someone on the losing side of The

That's interesting since Rhino's the closest to Toronto though I know
the geography around Hamilton (about a 30 minutes drive from Toronto)
since I'm a McMaster alumnus though that was 40 years ago - and have
been back numerous times since my late wife was from around there.

As I recall from the news coverage, the judge who tried this trio of cat
killers said it was the most heinous thing he'd ever heard of so he
"threw the book at them". He sentenced them to three months in jail and
since they'd been held in jail for that long awaiting trial, they had
already served the sentence and were free immediately.

I just did a search and can't find anything on Jesse Powell, the leader
of the trio, from after the trial. (There are lots of hits for Jesse
Powell but I don't think any of them are him.) Maybe he learned his
lesson. Or simply changed his name. What a despicable excuse for a
human being!
