https://www.forbes.com/sites/carlieporterfield/2022/07/18/americans-confidence-in-media-falls-to-record-lows-poll-finds/

"Key Facts
Only 16% of adults in the U.S. say they have “a great deal” or “quite a lot” of confidence in newspapers, and just 11% said the same for television news.

Both ratings fell by five percentage points from 2021 and represent the lowest confidence levels since Gallup began tracking newspapers in 1973 and television news in 1993.

Confidence in newspapers hit a record low for Republicans (5%) and independents (12%) this year, while Democrats’ confidence (35%) is still above its all-time low of 28% in 2007 and 2016."

Why adults in the U.S. most access US presses don't trust them?
Simple. They don't think these presses are reporting the truth and/or interpret the reported events fairly.

At the same time, journalists/writers of American presses clearly know that their readers can readily fact check their reports and/or interpretations. Yet they cannot and/or choose not to report truly and interpret fairly.

To the extent that American presses are not trusted by Americans over American news, there is no reason to trust these presses for reporting over foreign news.

One biggest bad thing in US media is that the media writer is not reporting what is said but altering what is said. They gave opinion from themselves and hence, they confused with lines between what is said and what is altered by his opinion, instead.

The idea of freedom and speech and freedom of the press is that readers and
journalists could learn from each other and improve each other. But then ideal
is one thing. Reality is diametrically opposite. Interaction between journalists
and readers are a competition to define the standard downward.

Journalists write biased articles. Readers, in response, don't trust the media.
In return, journalist move away from accurate reporting more and more to please
some readers. Of course, such reporting would deepen the distrust of another
group of readers.

Results, the presses are divided themselves into two groups reflecting political
partisanship.
