While I was never a big appreciator of the late Kellerman's purported acting skills, I've kept track of her over the years on account of, well, uh...a certain romantic relationship she is widely rumored to have had sometime during the mid-1980s* with that intensely-idiosyncratic recording artist with the funny nose, the funnier hair and the funniest voice.

But I hadn''t heard Kellerman was ailing with dementia, so I was startled to learn she expired today in Los Angeles.

Actually, that on-again, off-again affair was more than mere rumor.

I'm reliably informed Kellerman--best known onscreen as "Hot Lips" Hoolihan--had LOOSE lips as well as scalding ones, inasmuch as she bragged about the liaison to pals of hers. (No word on what the future Nobel laureate's reaction was once the scurrilous word got around.)

M*A*S*H the movie was alright, but the TV series was much better.
I remember Kellerman more for her role in the (2nd) Star Trek pilot.

From the 1989 book Retakes: Behind the Scenes of 500 Classic Movies, by John Eastman, page 208:

"Kellerman's nude scene, as Sutherland and Gould pull down the tent curtain, was achieved by a bit of trickery. Because of her shyness, Altman arranged for the entire cast to remove their clothing and stand off-camera when the tent came down, thus capturing her extremely genuine look of surprise."
