Trump is now party to a string of felonies in a scheme to EVADE taxes on large gifts to top employees, he was giving in lieu of pay.

Just like with Al Capone, the authorities got hold of his accountant... always a guy with spectacles and a bushy mustache.

Capone was found guilty of tax evasion and sentenced to 11 years.

So there is hope that Trump will be further humiliated and indicted, and convicted, though I doubt any judge will dare send a former president to prison.

People dying of Covid now are people who won't get a vaccine, about 99.2 of them.

About half of Republicans won't have it either because the election was stolen...

The unvaccinated are potentially little Covid factories among us. We should not allow them.

If Covid was even more lethal, the unvaccinated would pose an unacceptble risk, and we'd have to isolate them.

The reason they are milling around is that most people don't get Covid.

Poor Biden, he recently finished the "Sorry about the other guy" European tour, and now has to deal with anti-vaxxers at home. I don't envy him.

People who refuse advice on how to survive a plague because it comes from the other party.... Who are these fucks?

Unlikely.
1. When the US gov did that, very few other govs followed,
which meant that it was easy for American citizens to circumvent
the law.
2. It was a silly idea in the first place, which is one reason
why few govs tried it.
3. If the US gov tried it now there’d be almost as much screaming
as if they tried to confiscate guns. Particularly as a lot of
gold bugs are also gun nuts.
The US gov has enough problems right now, why generate more trouble?

Meanwhile, commodity based currencies are inflexible and limiting
(only so much gold in the world)
Mostly, they’re favored by the small minded, and those who would
like deflation to be a thing. With a subset of that being those
traumatized by stagflation in the ‘70s, who didn’t understand

The “small minded” are the inflationists that really believe
that inflation is a good thing. It is called the Gold Standard
because having a stable commodity money is the best way to create
a standard that isn’t easily changed. Creating fiat money out of
thin air is simply theft whether by the government or bit coiners.

Hi, millennial here. I suppose my generation would ask a question
like that given the fact that the Gold Standard ended well before
we entered the workforce; pretty much along with pensions, benefits,
unions, debt-free post-secondary education, affordable housing,
economic stability, the standard 9-to-5 job (especially those
that don’t require degrees), and so on. Hell, the Gold Standard
ended well before we were born. We’re not confused by the term
“standard”, it’s just not clear why we should care about crapshoots
like the Gold Standard or cryptocurrencies when we’re trying to
achieve stability.

(Well, I tried to help some "millennials", urged them to
buy things like 2 bedroom, 2 bath condos just outside
Seattle for around $100,000. Oh well!
If you own 3 rent producing residences, you got a pretty
good 'pension'!)

If you “adjust” the value of the commodity to attempt to match
the value of goods and services in the economy, the commodity
becomes fiat money as well. (If you don’t, you risk a deflationary
spiral as the quantity of goods and services exceeds the
set value of the commodity. While runaway inflation would be
dangerous, some inflation seems to be acceptable to human

While gold is indeed valuable, that value could vanish overnight.
While “shiney” is always popular and the longevity of gold is

There's a scintilla of hope in that isolationism seems to be rising
all over the world, with migrant push-back and some meager tariff
"adjustment". Yes, when all else fails there's always the obvious!
The inexorable rise in long-term unemployment, the cost of labor, the
spread of Technicolor infotainment (inciting envy and false
expectations), the drive to robotics (anything's cheaper than
employing people), and the swarms of Ivy-League boffins whose opinions
transcend their intelligence. It's all too late of course; only a
crash will change things and attitudes. In the meantime the
population of East, South, and Asia Minor are breeding like bunnies!
