A public high school teacher in San Jose was arrested on suspicion of
sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl at a school where he worked, police
said Tuesday.

San Jose police took Te Bin Jung, 31, an English teacher at Yerba Buena
High School in East San Jose, into custody this month after a mother told
officers that she allegedly found �inappropriate messages� from Jung on
her daughter�s phone, police said.

Following an investigation, police charged Jung with one count of sexual
assault of a minor. The alleged assault occurred when the 17-year-old
victim was a student at Silver Creek High School, at the time Jung was a
teacher at the school.

�Detectives believe there could be additional victims due to the suspect�s
position as a person of trust at the school,� San Jose police said in a
statement Tuesday.

News of the alleged assault comes two months after another East San Jose
teacher, Israel Santiago, was arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting
at least 10 minors at the school where he worked.

Jung was removed from his teaching duties and placed on unpaid leave as
soon as school officials learned of the charges, Glenn Vander Zee,
superintendent of the East Side Union High School District, said in a
statement.

Jung was arrested at his home in San Jose. He was released from the Santa
Clara County Main Jail on a supervised release program, police said.

A San Jose police division focused on internet crimes against children
investigated both teachers.
