Who is the most surprising omission from the most recent (2022) Giants list?
Mario Kuehl because he achieved a PR of 2.17 in the final of the World Championships and sustained this over a 21 point match.

Given that the Giants list was compiled long before this achievement,
it's hardly a surprise.

If by "Giants list" we mean the top 32, which I believe is the
traditional definition, then the most surprising omission to me is
Steen (Grønbech) Mikkelsen, who dropped from #8 in the 2019 list
to #46 in the 2022 list. There is presumably some explanation for
this drop, but I don't know what it is.

The surprise (to me) is that Mario improved from being a non-Giant to someone capable of scoring 2.17 over a long match.
I would think that this type of performance from a non-Giant is very rare indeed (and hence surprising). But I don't have the
statistics to back it up.
I think this is at least as surprising as your surprising surprise.
I think your judgment in my judgment is somewhat lacking in judgment.

Idk why Steen dropped so much either. I checked in on him once over the past couple years and he was still playing the weekly tournament they all play which I believe consists of 17 pointers, all recorded, yada, yada, yada. I probably voted for him though I'd have to double check. I imagine it comes down to him not being in the spotlight much lately so people kind of forget or vote for people who are not necessarily more active but more in the public view.
