A celebrity or public personality who is popular with the mass media and well-known in their niche. A media darling will receive frequent, positive attention from the media for every move she or he makes, yet still be loved by the general public. The term was first coined by The Washington Post in the 1970s.

Notable media darlings: Jennifer Aniston, Sandra Bullock, Reese Witherspoon, Emma Stone, Beyoncé, Lauren Conrad, Kristen Bell, and Mila Kunis.
