media are all avoiding identifying the shooter by name.

short term. We must look 30 years down the road and envision an
America without random mass shootings... you know, like the rest of
the civilized world. At first, the gun lobby took baby steps: "We
believe in absolutely gun-free, zero-tolerance, totally safe schools.
That means no guns in America’s schools. Period." (Wayne LaPierre in
an address to CPAC, 1999.) They agreed to gun-free churches and
hospitals, also. A few years later, they were actively pushing guns
into schools, churches, and hospitals... and here we are today with a
daily blood bath.

We cannot possibly undo all of the social damage wrought over three

longest journey begins with but a single step.

I didn't say that the shooter's name was classified.

Tune into any mainstream national news live or recently recorded
broadcast and count the number of times the shooter's name is
mentioned... the shooting is about 48 hours old and you will not hear
the shooter's name used in the discussion... they avoid mentioning the
shooter's name insofar as they possibly can. The person's name is
hard news, but they focus on the injured people, not the shooter... as
they should.
