An estimated 2,000 soldiers have defected from the military
currently ruling Myanmar, according to figures from the
resistance. Although 350,000 soldiers remain, defectors
could weaken the junta’s grip on the country.

propaganda purposes it's a good start. Might induce
a lot more to slide to the pro-democracy side.

It is fairly rare for soldiers to break from the will
of the political masters, they usually just do what
they're told to do no matter how horrible.
