Just won an 11 point match against XG by 15 to 10 over 9 games with
a PR of 3.59.
So Tim can be impressed by my PR and Murat can be impressed by
the fact that I won.

I have indeed saved the match and would be happy to make it public.
The match is saved as an XG file.
If you would like to see it, please give user-friendly instructions on what you want me to do,
without assuming any knowledge on my part, and so that I don't need to use Google to follow your instructions.

Thank You.

Do you also look at your checker and cube PR's
separately? While mine are both almost always
super high, in general my cube PR's are higher
than my checker PR's.

I'm proud of you. ;) And yes, for me, the only
thing that matters is winning. PR is cow pie!

In the only match I've played today, and the only match since seeing your post, I beat XG in another 11 pointer and also
obtained a sub-5 PR. Progression of match is described below.
Game 1: I lead 1-0 after doubling XG out.
Game 2: I double very slightly prematurely. I knew the position was marginal between double/hold but guessed the border wrongly.
XG redoubles and I correctly take. I lose to trail 1-4.
Game 3: I double XG out to trail 2-4. However, my cube play was poor in that I missed an earlier clear double that XG would have taken.
Game 4: I double very slightly prematurely and win to tie at 4-4. Here, my double looked clear to me although it also looked an easy take.
Game 5: I double XG out to lead 5-4.
Game 6: I correctly double. XG takes and loses. I lead 7-4.
Game 7: XG doubles. I correctly take and I lose. I lead 7-6.
Game 8: I double XG out to lead 8-6
Game 9: I got a huge advantage in a race and correctly played on for the gammon.
XG did take checkers off. However, after XG took checkers off, I saw that I was enough ahead in the race that
it was impossible for me to gain market. So I kept rolling for fun without using the cube -- this cost me 0 MWC of course.
I lead 9-6.
Game 10: I win an undoubled gammon to win the match 11-6. Holding the cube was consistently correct.
My PR was 4.79

Unfortunately, my play got steadily worse as the match progressed and the games become more significant, so in terms of MWC lost,
I doubt that I played especially well.

I don't have XG but a google search gives the following extremegammon pdf file with reference to saving or export as jellyfish format

https://www.extremegammon.com/extremegammon2.pdf

Save the Match in JellyFish format
Save the whole match or unlimited games to a file in JellyFish format.

So I would guess that simply opening the saved XG file and clicking File menu and looking for "Save As" or Export and something like jf.mat or jellyfish would be all that is necessary to save as jf.mat

cheers!

Oh.. i just noticed the Google Groups announcement that no new Usenet posts will be supported effective Feb 22-2024. Does this mean we have to use something other than Google to access rgb? Is there any other platform that you guys use for bg discussions?

I use www.eternal-september.org to access rec.games.backgammon.
It took me a while to figure out how to set up Thunderbird on my
machine to interact properly with Eternal September, but now it
works pretty well (although it's not perfect).

For backgammon discussions, you can try Stick's forum at
bgonline.org/forums. You need an account to post there, but Stick
will be happy to give you an account for free.

I also started using Eternal September last week.
Setting up Thunderbird was a breeze and I have no
issues. I'm worried that we may have problems in
the future as all those people using Google will
switch to using open servers.

Stick's forum existed for a long time but is not
nor will ever be a replacement for Usenet RGB. It
attracts a different breed of people discussing
different subjects, mainly positions. I wish Tim
and his ilk would take their compulsive obsessive
several-per-day position discussions there, instead
of trying to herd others from RGB to Stick's Forum.

ok so I am posting this using thunderbird / eternal september as per TC
reference. It can be a bit confusing to setup but google always to the
rescue.
