An election result which reverberates beyond an archipelago.

Maldives is in the Indian Ocean. Under Indo-American geopolitical strategy, the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean is considered as one Indo-Pacific geo-strategic region to contain and counter China.
A Maldives under a government openly friendly to China is against the interest of Indo-American geopolitics in the Indo-Pacific. Because of this, Muizzui should not feel over-confident about his victory. Don't be surprised if Indo-American plans are underway to bring down his government.

Likely scenarios:
Organise massive street protests to deny the election result.
India refuses to remove its small military presence there. Instead, this will be used in a military coup to topple the newly elected government.
An assassination attempt on Muizzui

Even after Inauguration, there will be constant plots to bring down the pro-China Muizzui government.

The Muizzui government should be on constant guard against Indo-American dirty geopolitics.

India would want the Maldives to end up like Sri Lanka, broke and poor, approaching India with a begging bowl. This fits in well with India's 'Beggar thy Neighbor' policy.
