Of course the final product doesn't look like the ads. Anyone who
thinks any product will look as good as it does in ads is an idiot.
However, the specific complaint, shrinking portion sizes may have
support. If an item is shown as size X in ads, but is X - Y in
reality, a complaint may have merit.
Burger patties would be difficult to change. They're a specific
weight in most fast food restaurants and produced elsewhere. A quarter
of a pound is typical. Yes, an once or two could be removed during its
production, but it would require a re-work of the equipment than makes
the patties.
The company that produces the patties would have to increase
prices to cover the costs associated with the change. This would
negate any attempt at a savings at the restaurants.
