Mogadishu (AFP) – Somalia's escalating political crisis
alarmed its neighbours and Western countries as heavily
armed factions patrolled parts of the capital Mogadishu
on Tuesday, raising fears that the tensions could erupt
into violence.

Soldiers loyal to Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble
took up positions near the presidential palace a day after
President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed, better known as Farmajo,
announced the suspension of the premier, who accused him
of an "attempted coup".

.. . .

First Ethiopia, now Somalia - and the S.Sudan and Congo
debacles continue.

Somalia never even managed to get back to "fair" since
its previous encounter with factional anarchy and now
it looks to slide back into hell.

Looks like Africa is going to be one of the biggest
problems of this decade. What was built up is now
the victim of entropy and multiple contentious factions
all want to grab total control.

The Islamist problem overlays all of this - Mali and
Burkina Faso have reportedly hired a legion of Russian
mercenaries to try and mop up their messes - after France
couldn't or wouldn't. Chinese and Russian influence is
expanding rapidly in Africa while that of the west seems
in rapid decline.
