Just one fifth of the weekly rise in Covid inpatients was
caused by people admitted to hospital because of the virus,
figures suggest.

The most up-to-date NHS data show that on December 21, there
were 6,245 beds occupied by coronavirus patients in English
hospitals - an increase of 259 from the previous week.

But within that increase, just 45 patients were admitted
because of the virus, with the remaining 214 in hospital
for other conditions but having also tested positive - so
called “incidental Covid” admissions.

And here we go again ... STATS WE CAN'T USE. Nothing
standardized.

How many are REALLY hospitalized for Omicron symptoms ?
Sounds like "not many" - but because they incidentally
get a positive test while they're REALLY there because
somebody stuck a screwdriver in their head, they get
classified as a "Covid Admission" and wind up in the
books as such. This badly distorts our estimation of
The Threat, public info, political policies and how
precious funding is distributed.

You'd THINK that after decades of zombie/virus apocalypse
movies SOMEBODY would have come up with a coherent system
to keep GOOD track of such plagues - but no. Not the USA,
not the EU, not the WHO, nobody.

Which leaves us stumbling around in the dark. Panics over
nothing, complacency when serious danger lurks. This is BAD.
