Apparently Omicron is infiltrating the ranks of the US
air-traffic controllers. Without them, nothing much
bigger than a Cessna is leaving the ground - and then
only from rural airports.

The ATC system is kind of a "hidden" factor in air
travel. Normally it just works and nobody ever hears
or thinks about it. And sorry, but due to all the
sophisticated equipment combined with a 360 degree
view of the field the controllers just CAN'T "work
from home".

And EU and Japanese/Chinese ATCs aren't immune to the
virus either.

In short, right in the middle of the holiday-return
rush, the global air-traffic system could simply
stop. It'd be like 9-11 again. but on an even larger
scale.
