On Friday, the family of astronomer Frank Drake announced that he had died peacefully at 92 in his California home, near the site of his final academic position at the University of California, Santa Cruz. Drake made a number of contributions to radio astronomy, including serving as director of the Arecibo radio telescope facility. But Drake is probably best known for an equation that bears his name and his subsequent involvement in SETI efforts. His equation was the first significant attempt to estimate the probability of intelligent extraterrestrial life.

So sorry to miss your earlier-than-mine Drake posting; didn't mean to start a separate thread, but you've been so prolifically posting folks of late, "Mig", that my aging eyes too often miss things.

By the way, I'm not complaining about your prolific postings; rather, I'm embarrassed I've not heard of more of them, but that's my own failing. You, Mig, strike me as someone possessing, like Drudge, keen news judgment.

You Brits usually do, to my experience.
