Good thing that the authorities anticipated this and in 2015
installed a new valve in the deepest part of lake mead which
was completed in 2020 and now in operation.

Climate change can't be stopped, but global warming can be mitigated.
That said the biggest contributor that is not talked about is population
growth. The Colorado Water district that was created 80 years ago
initially served less then half of today's population.

Yet the feed stock of the water district is the Colorado Rockies winter
snow and rainfall from other seasons the fill the 2 lakes.
With today's population the Rockies would need about 4 or 5 blizzards
and numerous rainstorms to fulfill the water needs of the current
population. It's highly unlikely this will happen.

Any improvements in water quantity will be negated by population growth.
World wide it rises 83 million a year. Clean potable drinking water and
water for agriculture will be a challenge for decades as world
populations increase faster then solutions.
