Hmmmmmm ... is something like this worth a look
in the USA ?

Most big universities in the USA get federal $$$ for
various programs. It's the Golden Rule here - he who
provides the gold makes the rules.

The OTHER place to apply pressure, not quite as overt,
is in the student loans arena. Going for a degree in
Comparative Ancient Mesopotamian Basket-Weaving, well,
NO MONEY FOR YOU. The world needs maybe just two or
three people expert in that field.

I'd prefer the second option rather than directly tell
universities what they will and will not teach.

And, US POTUS candidates, adding THAT plank to your
campaign WOULD attract lots of votes.
