Now all but two of the all-news stations once owned by CBS, and now owned by Audacy, have AM-FM simulcasts. The only two holdouts, I believe, are WWJ Detroit and WCBS New York. KCBS San Francisco, KNX Los Angeles, and KYW Philadelphia have all made the switch.

What's significant here is that they're taking over the 92.3 frequency that was once the home base of Howard Stern.

97.1 Los Angeles, which carried Stern's show back in the day, has been simulcasting KNX for some time.

They're all chasing the money. Most music stations have a satellite simulcast, but that hasn't really worked for all-news.

Another reason to do this is that... many of the Electric Vehicles
do NOT have AM radios.

Reason? electric motors and control circuitry put
out _lots_ of radio interference. Fixing that/filtering
it out... is tricky and expensive.

So Volkswagon, in its ID.4, and many others (including
some of the Teslas) figured it was easier to just not
have an AM radio..

Yes, but isn't the intersection of people who drive EVs and people who
listen to AM radio a pretty small (almost non-existent) set?

The single most important statistic in the US today - the one that explains all the
others - is this: 63 million people thought it was a good idea to vote for this clown
(and will probably do so again). Everything else is secondary to that. Everything else
