Paul Morantz, who died October 23, 2022, aged 77, was an American attorney and investigative journalist. He was known for taking legal cases alleging brainwashing by cults, self-help groups and for sexual misconduct by psychotherapists.

I read about that 1978 murder attempt, some years ago - but only because it was on the same page (from Newsweek?) as the October report of Nancy Spungen's murder, allegedly by Sid Vicious. (I was looking it up on microfilm.)

Two odd things about the latter case:

1. According to one source, Nancy's wound was under an inch deep and she only bled to death due to her drug use.
That would suggest that it wasn't really a murder attempt.

2. Contrary to what many claim, another source - Sid's own lawyer, I think?! - said there was no third party involved.
