Angelo Badalamenti, the famed David Lynch composer known for his work on Blue Velvet, Twin Peaks and Mulholland Drive, has died at 85. Badalamenti passed of natural causes on Sunday Dec 11, 2022, , and was surrounded by his family at his home in Lincoln Park, New Jersey, his niece Frances Badalamenti told The Hollywood Reporter

There is another famed composer who is one
of my oldest friends and for fifty years
I've gone to every concert featuring his
music that I've been able to. I went to
one such concert back in 2003 and when I
went backstage afterward to see my friend
and the musicians I was approached by a
gentleman who turned out to be Badalamenti.
We had a nice long chat but, puzzlingly,
he kept addressing me as "Charlie"; the
first few times I didn't think or make
anything of it, but finally when he
introduced me to someone else as such I
had to gently make the correction. It
turned out he had mistaken me for noted
clarinetist Charles Neidich, who had been
one of the musicians in my friend's piece
(though when I met Neidich for the first
time as he joined us a few minutes later
I didn't think I bore much resemblance
to him). Badalamenti was embarrassed
but we all had a good laugh over it.
