That's an interesting perspective you've highlighted there, Traveltron.

Is there any evidence s/he only concocted that plan once s/he was sentenced to death? Or, put another, converse way: is there any evidence that s/he for many years had in fact hoped to do the gender switcheroo, but for any reason just never got around to it until prison?

Anybody else concerned that hardcore felons are spending their final days on death row telling each other "dad jokes" whilst
awaiting gender reassignment surgery? Last time I was in the Big House any sentence that didn't start or end with a guttural Anglo-Saxon pejorative would most likely get you crowned with a food tray across your face or otherwise stomped on general
principles with the nearest available heavy object. The last thing you want to do is look like a punk when you're walking Spanish down the hall...

By the time you've ended up in prison for any length of time, for any offense, your personal pronouns should have long since
been sorted out. Be as creative as you want in your life, and delude yourself in any way you see fit, but once those big iron
doors clank closed behind you, you no longer have a say in the matter, and when you eventually hit that final cold hard slab on the way to Potter's Field it comes down to single choice in the matter. The only choice you should get is whether or not you want an extra helping of pudding on Saturday night and even then you'll have to fight like hell for that.

Mongo, sorry to learn you had to learn to survive under the unholy circumstances which I gather even the "softest" prisons and jails represent...and so glad for your since-liberated sake that you somehow managed to complete your stretch and emerge with your wits intact. (I doubt I would have, had I instead been in your once-incarcerated shoes, and that assertion is based on countless hours of watching MSNBC's long-running overnight show, good ol' "Lock-Up".

Meanhwhile, thanks for the Dad-joke tutorial; I'm so clueless that I didn't even get your Holy water gag until I pondered it for a couple moments. For my insignificant part, I wouldn't tell ANY Dad jokes, even if I knew some--as I was lucky enough to have a terrific (and late since 1986) father--as well as one who loved dearly my late(r) mother, an occasionally troubled lady whom just about everybody but Dad found to be a rather difficult woman.

But I find it interesting that the now-executed prisoner tormented by gender confusion would relish (to the apparent point of absurdity) punchlines which portray fathers as dumb. It makes me wonder if his family life as a youngster may have set him on a path toward dissatisfaction with the gender G-d or nature bestowed upon him.

Now, I too admit that being male hasn't thus far exactly worked out very well in the long run for me (i.e., 68 years and counting). But the decidedly old-fashioned way I see things tells me I've got no other option but to stick with the maleness that was imposed on me at conception. Now, I'm nothing much to look at--and never was--but at least I'm not under the delusion that I'd look better as a "guy in a dress", something Jeopardy! phenom Amy Schneider mistakenly seems to believe.

So I figure I'm stuck as a male for the rest of my days, no matter how far bionic technology and below-the-waist surgery advances during what I hope shall turn out to be my remaining decades (or at least years?).

More typically men sent to prison decide to be "female" on the
government's dime in order to get actually-female cellmates to
intimidate.

New York's S6677A/A7001B apparently stalled in committee,but
was designed to grease the skids for this,in the spirit of
Scott Wiener's toxic California laws.

However,if the proposed NY constitutional amendment
(recently,deceptively,offensively relabeled "Equal Rights
Amendment") passes,such laws would become mandatory...
and could not cease to be mandatory for the years it would
take to repeal the amendment.
