But I'd have to say that his history lesson needs to be set
in a larger historic frame for these recent events to make
sense. Russia, in the context of the USSR, participated
in the collective catastrophe that began with the Kulaks
and ended in the Holodomor. While similar atrocities were
visited upon all the peoples of the USSR, Stalin seems to
have hated Ukrainians even worse than others. Bandera
and company are just a witless reaction to systemic horror:
NAZIs are people too, Sergei, and need to be treated with
the respect we, not they, accord other humans.
