The late attorney Maddox's legal shenanigans were hugely benefited by the fact that Shakedown Sharpton--in the silly, quite-ungrammatical parlance of their often-exhorted "community"--invariably "had his back".

Oh, and I'll presume Alton Maddox, Esq. was not even distant kin of Lester Maddox, the late Georgia governor. (Though one CAN safely bet that the younger Maddox was, like the celebrated segregationist politician, a dedicated Democrat.)
