Leave it to the redheaded and hard-headed Maureen Dowd--maybe the best anywhere these days at elegantly turning a phrase--to pen the obituary of the newspaper newsroom.

Hard for any news guy or gal--and I count all y'all alt-obiters as that, even if you've never earned a dime in the glorious profession--not to shed a tear or two whilst absorbing Dowd's remarkable journalistic observations in one of the finest (and saddest) stories ever written about the news-gathering craft.
