I thought it was odd that while Rosie didn't speak perfect English, she didn't have an accent either. IIRC.

But then, neither did most of the other "Asian-born" characters.

It was sort of a minimal "received English" that they learned in order
to communicate with Americans, and pronunciation undoubtably improved
over time. I have no idea if that's an acurate portrayal, but we know that
they tried a lot harder to communicate with English speakers than
English speakers tried to communicate in the language native to the
theater of war.

Also, it was a basis for comedy, expecting the speaker to sound one way
but she's actually readily understood.

I had no trouble suspending disbelief for that.
