Well, I suppose pretty much EVERY NFL fan of "of a certain age" remembers the late Kapp's earnest leadership and dogged, physical play during the 1969 regular season under his late head coach Bud Grant--not to mention Kapp's inability in January 1970 to make much headway at all against Len Dawson* and the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl IV, staged inside grand old ivy-clad Tulane Stadium in New Orleans. (The Vikings lost 23-7, and were hardly ever really in contention.)

But I had NO IDEA Kapp (in his post-NFL career) was ALSO the head coach of the University of California Bears in their 1982 season-ending game in Berkeley, which culminated in what has become known to college gridiron history simply as The Play: that raucous, trombonist-decking, quintuple-lateral, game-winning free-for-all kickoff return which defeated the Stanford Cardinal.
