In media retrospect, the aging (but still quite handsome and strapping) Rebney sure proved in fact to be a far more thoughtful and interesting guy than his original bootleg-video "fans" ever expected.

Earlier on in this so-far-sordid century, the more simple-minded types among the YouTube-viewing crowd naturally--and dismayingly--always focused on Rebney's habitually (not to mention tiresome) foul-mouthed outtake behavior.

But as Rebney's where-are-they-now? documentarian eventually discovered and then cinematically uncovered for us all, late in life the late Rebney--who died on Wednesday, May 10th--was a fascinating example of that curious class of storied characters, the American hermit.
