jungle.

Seems like there was all kinds of interesting shit going
on in S.America well before any euros showed up. This
city seems at least at early Egyptian tech and other
examples have been found over the past decades - including
a "waterworld" deep in the jungles with extensive man-made
canal systems. Others have been found that had huge groves
of fruit trees and irrigation systems.

S.American civ DID seem to share one unpleasant feature
though, a fanatical devotion to human sacrifices ....
