Every day I look in the mirror and ask myself
that very same question. "When am I going to
die?" My answer for years was, "when I have
lived long enough to become truly important.
Important enough to make it into the alt.obituaries
news group, an honor similar if not superior to
getting into the Guinness Book of World Records.

I am serious though. Every time I come into this
group I look for some juicy deaths to gloat over
and I am usually let down. But a lot of that is my
own doing, and I know it - because I am getting
older and most of the really important wowzo
powzo holy crap celebrity passings have already
taken place. In order to feel even a smidgeon of
the joy I would feel when ultra famous people would
die, sending their fans into a super duper trance of
sadness - to know that same feeling today would
require me to keeping up with the celebrities of
today - and that's not going to happen. Anyway,
once again I ask, "When is somebody really
important going to die?" While looking in the mirror.

Yeah, I know - but it's different now. For one, I am not involved.
Let's face facts, the celebrities of today have less character
and personality than even the most average celebs of the past.
What do you mean when you say the boomers are only getting
started? Sure, there's a few goodies left, but they're too old to
tilt the thrill bar. It's to the point where the thrill bar is set so
high that multiple simultaneous celebrity deaths will be
required to amp people up. A mass shooting at the Oscars
for instance.

Competition is rough. Sometimes teamwork is needed. Sharing
the limelight becomes necessary. What would be really interesting
is if a plane containing 20 highly popular celebs of our age went
down with all aboard dying - how would they list the names?
In what order? Who would get top billing? Fans of some of the
dead stars will complain that it was unfair for their favorite star to
die in a large group instead of alone on the center stage he deserves

With me it's not so much who dies, it's the overall reaction
that counts. The mass hysteria. That lost look. Groupies
with candles wandering lost and vacant eyed in the city. Lost.
And now so all alone with their favorite celebrity nothing but a
stinking rotting corpse.
