Tuesday I made a quick shrimp etouffee with rice, broccoli, and a salad. I thought a rose might help with the spice so opened the 2020 Domaine de la Sangliere “Signature” Cotes de Provence rose. Recent purchase at 60% off at Zachy’s progressive sale, this might have been a bargain if they had progressed to 90% Cherry Koolaid, soft and empty, not something I want. For white Zin drinkers. C

So I opened the 2018 Luneau-Papin L d’Or Muscadet, a much better wine if not a great match with the etouffee. Leesy, peach and lemon, saline/seashell, more in a Clisson/Excelsior style. Broad and long. B+
(Label actually says L d’Or Granite. They are allowed to do that now? I remember when Pepiere had to change the Granite de Clisson to Clisson because they couldn’t mentio soilbase in name?)

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C
drinkable. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was only choice.Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.

Hmmm... Doesn't L'Ecu label by soil base (Orthogneiss, Granite)? Could
there have been another issue with the Granite de Clisson that led to
its removal?

At Pousse dinner someone said they changed the regs 10 or so years ago to allow. No personal knowledge
