I wasn't really paying attention to what they said when I took Buffy for
her last visit to the vet. They said they'd provide me with a paw
print. Uh, okay. I was focused on holding her and talking to her and
telling her how much I loved her while she slipped away.

I figured it would be something like they put her paw on an ink pad and
pressed it on a pretty little card and perhaps laminated it. I didn't
remember the paw print thing until today.

I called them. Uh, do you have a Buffy paw print for me? Oh yes, you
can pick it up any time. So I went over there after work. It wasn't an
inked print on a card. Her paw print is pressed in clay and her name is
pressed in above it. It's sort of a paper weight, round and about the
size of a drinks coaster. The clay is still a bit wet. They gave it to
me in a plastic bag with the side slit to allow airflow and told me to
take it out and set it on a flat surface and let it dry completely for a
few more days. It's a nice thing to have.

That sounds a really lovely thing to have. I've not heard of it before.
I may ask if they do that at my vets but I don't think they will. I'm glad
they did it for you.

It's a nice little memento, for sure. I had a short day at the office
today (my boss was out for personal reasons and I finished up all the
work he had left for me by 2:15.) When I got home I found a sympathy
card from the vets, signed by all the people who were involved in
Buffy's care. That's nice, too.

Don't you wish you had taken my advice and put the cat down before she
needlessly suffered? You thought I was trolling, but all I had in mind
was Buffy's well-being.

What a horrible troll you are! She assisted Buffy at just the right
time.

None of us or our pets live forever. I have been exceptionally lucky
that mine have all been graced with a very long run for the species.
