I'm not a boomer and I'm not a millennial either.

Keep in mind that the latter now outnumber the former, and it will probably fewer than five years before the Gen Xers outnumber the boomers. Right now, Gen X makes up just under 20% of the US population.

On top of everything else, Kurt Cobain's death WAS mentioned in the article. So maybe I should have said "Semi-OT."

I didn't read it. After skimming it looked like a bunch of anonymous anecdotes of questionable veracity.

The Gen Z kid is kind of right about nobody saying calling the music
"grunge".
I was a teenager right in the middle of that whole scene in the Seattle
area in the early 90s. None of us called it "grunge". Everyone called it
"punk" or "alternative". "Grunge" was an exonym used by MTV and other
posers.

TRUE, even if the term was coined by Mark Arm.

Just finished Steve Turner's book and saw Mudhoney in November. Band is still amazing live and putting out great music. Unfortunately the powers that be turned it into pop music pretty quick with the likes of Stone Temple Pilots, Bush, etc.

Side note:

Over a dozen years ago, my mother and I were watching the Walter Matthau 1967 comedy "A Guide for the Married Man."

(It's a farce in which the main character gets taught on how a man can cheat on his wife and not get caught. With at least some sexist imagery, as I remember.)

My mother said something like "you should be very grateful you didn't have to live (as an adult) in the 1960s."

I said, sarcastically: "Someday, you MUST tell me all about it."
