The weight of 14-year-old-male students has ballooned from an
average of 5st 10lb in 1970 to 8.5st, according to one of the
leaders of the NASUWT.

The average height is also said to have risen in the past 50
years from 4ft 10in to 5ft 8in, Elaine Paling told delegates
at the teaching union’s annual conference in Birmingham on Sunday.

Whilst telling the audience she was “a big fan of statistics”,
the history teacher claimed that these figures had been taken
from the World Health Organisation website.

However, a study from University College Cork placed the average
height of a 14-year-old boy in 1970 at 5ft 3in and in 2007
at 5ft 6in.

This is something of a mystery - and it's hardly just the UK,
it's worldwide.

Since the mid 50s there's really been no shortage of food in
the western world or Japan/Korea/India either. China was a
bit behind the curve because of the Maoist terror.

Up until around 1900, people were small mostly because of
malnutrition and untreatable infections. But AFTER ...

Look at the vast increase in size. It's been only about TWO
generation since 1970. This is way to fast for natural selection,
almost too fast for epigenetics too. Everybody ate tons of junk
food from the mid 50s on and nobody even heard of those chemicals
in plastics way back then - plastic TASTED "plastic" because there
were so many of those estrogen analogs in there. Didn't seem to
hurt the reproduction rate either. There were horrible chemicals
leeching out of everything since 1950 on too. Still are to some
extent, but back then nobody thought about it - And Be Sure To
Insulate Your Home With JM Asbestos Products. Don't forget to
fill your tank with (tetra-)Ethyl(-lead) either ....

So it it isn't the food or the containers or thw walls or
Darwin - what the hell IS it ??? Neither 'race' or 'sex'
or nationality seem to make any diff, humans are getting BIG.

It's almost like the kids "just know" they need to be big
and tall because so many others around them are big and tall -
and the body responds accordingly. Is there something even
quicker than epigenetics ? "Phermonal" maybe - does Big&Tall
have a particular smell that upregulates a bunch of genes ?
Dig up some photos of random "Class Of '45"-ers sometime and
particularly look at the women ... much higher percentage
of real "dogs" back then. "PsychoSocialSomatic" ? No such
term - but that's what it SEEMS like.

Often now on the news I hear them refer to some 11 year old,
and then they show video of someone who looks 18. This is
just weird. The question is how huge will THEIR kids be ?

I suppose humans, ideally, would average about 4'5" .. you
could build smaller cheaper houses, they'd eat half as much
food, use half as many resources and occupy less space. But
that's not how it's going - "gigantism" instead. This is
a trend at least since the end of WW2, nothing new but
progressive, perhaps even accelerating a bit.

Now frankly I don't give a shit whether 10 year olds are 6'
tall with tits and balls - though it will eventually require
a re-write for the legal def of "juvenile". The question we
cannot answer yet is how well todays "giants" will age. Yet
the lifespan has been going up too over the same period
and not all of that seems to do with better medicine. Are
the 2100s going to be populated with 7-footers that live
to be 150 ???
