The founder of CinemaScore left the dental industry to give Hollywood
A's and F's, changing the way people decide which movies to see

On Friday, June 23, 1978, Ed and Rona Mintz hired a babysitter to watch
their three children, went out to dinner with friends and then went to a
movie theater in the Westwood neighborhood of Los Angeles to see Neil
Simon's "The Cheap Detective" on opening night.

It was an expensive evening and expectations were high. Ed Mintz was an
unabashed Simon fan and had read a positive review of the movie. But when
he walked out, Rona Mintz says he turned to her and said: "What a piece
of garbage."

Ed Mintz saw this as his chance....
