QE2 was kind of scarce during her Platinum Jubilee
festivities, but she DID make an appearance with
(most of) the family at the final big event. Missing
was Randy Andy and Harry&M ... the latter very quietly
flew back to the USA a few hours earlier. Prominently
featured were Charles and his clear successor and
his kids - who were a hoot (American term Brits, it's
good :-)

An odd, kind of ghosty, feature was QE2's coronation
carriage - a huge golden thing - with a sort of
HOLOGRAM of the young queen waving to the crowd
inside. Struck me as a bit creepy ... but the Brits
didn't seem to mind.

In any case, the queen DID show up enough to make
the affairs a big success. She even did a sort of
cartoon thing for the kids, likely mostly for her
grand-kids, having tea with 'Paddington' bear. They
put money and effort into that, good CGI. Proves
she still has a sense of humor ... though the Bond
thing during the Olympics still tops everything :-)

Alas, when she goes, well, I think she was the last
of her kind - the dignified, circumspect, well-
informed and involved monarch. Her kids are more of
the "spoiled rich brat" persuasion - not the kind
you idolize, not the kind who can make a diplomatic
or big cultural difference.
