Myself, I'm torn. It's beyond question that OJ *deserved* a lengthy
prison sentence. But Marcia Clark and Chris Darden deserved
humiliation even more for their absolute, near-comical incompetence
and arrogance. Well, Clark deserved it; Darden was most likely
bullied into going along with her stupidity.

Was it worth letting a sick, brutal murderer walk free just to expose
that incompetence? Well, speaking seriously for a moment, obviously
not. But it was a nice side effect, at least. And the thought of
O.J. hounded financially by Fred Goldman into committing another
serious crime -- for which he was actually held accountable -- does
warm my heart a bit.

Pity Lance Ito isn't nearly the public laughingstock he deserves to
be. He should have been removed from the bench and disbarred for
falsifying his conflict of interest, not to mention his sheer
incompetence at the trial. If there's anyone to blame for this
travesty besides Clark, it's that jackass.

I heartily recomment Vincent Bugliosi's excellent book to anyone
interested in the appalling legalities and mis-legalities of this
case.

I have not read any of the books about the case...I did see Clark's
book in a store (did Darden write one?...like,"It Didn't Fit,I Must
Admit"?) but only wanted to look up her reaction to the news that her
star witness Fuhrman had been seeking a psychiatric discharge from
the police force (nothing like a self-impeaching witness!)...I did
not buy it.

My bad; I misremembered his name as "Fred Goldman." I apologize to
anyone named Fred Goldman who might have been offended by my confusing
his name with that of Fred Goldman. I certainly hope Fred Goldman can
forgive me as well, in the unlikely event he should be at all aware
that I got him mixed up with Fred Goldman.
