BTW, both broccoli and asparagus are good. The taste of the two
combined do not necessarily compliment each other if you're just
throwing them together in a bowl with water and nuking them. (Sheer
laziness.)

Actually Jill, nuking fresh or frozen vegetables in a covered bowl is
just as good as "gently steaming them." (and no extra water is required)

It's not sheer laziness, it's just faster.

I wonder if power level 5 on Kuthe's microwave is 5%, 50%, or some
random value.

Cooking fresh veggies is one of the best uses for a nuker, fast and
maintains flavor, color, and nutrients. We've been nuking a lot of
greens... we have tons of swiss chard coming in. The green grocer at
Tops has been putting out a lot of fresh beets. People rip off the
tops and put them in a large trash barrel. I asked and was told to
take them, better than fresh spinach. Chard is actually beet tops,
tastes nothing like beets. If I didn't take them they'd go to a pig
farm.

I think 5 is always 50%, 10 seconds on, 10 seconds off,
unless you have an inverter, which is 50% power
continuously. I'd never buy a microwave that wasn't an
inverter.

Despite what you believe, Gary, I don't always *gently steam*
vegetables. I was thinking more along the lines of stir-fry or roasting
that particular combo.
